MONKHOUSE—Elizabeth Allen Monkhouse, aged 75, at her home, 810 North Broadway, January 3.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 4, at 5 p.m. from the Smith and Tuthill Funeral chapel.  Interment was made today in Inglewood cemetery.

 

LOBO—Lucresia Lobo, aged 32, at San Juan Capistrano.  Funeral service will be held from the San Juan Capistrano mission, Friday, January 7 at 10 a.m., with Smith and Tuthill in charge.

 

TURNER—George Albert Turner, aged 75, at his home, 509 West Fourth street, January 4.  Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, at 1:30 p.m. from the Smith and Tuthill chapel.


FAUST—G.A.W. Faust, aged 74, at his home, 903 Garfield, January 5.  Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, at 3:30 p.m., from the Smith and Tuthill chapel.  Interment will be made at Tulare.

 

HALL—John Hall, aged 82, January 4.  Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Smith and Tuthill chapel.  Interment was made in Santa Ana cemetery.

 

January 6, 1921

 

LAMB—With the American forces in France, Oct. 12, 1918, Charles D. Lamb, aged 29 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Lamb, 620 West Sixth street, Santa Ana.  He was a member of 341st Regiment, Company C, of the Eighty-sixth Division, entering the service in Wisconsin.  He fell on the battlefield and was taken to a hospital, where he contracted influenza and died.  Services will be held from the Mills and Winbigler Mission Funeral home tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.  Interment under auspices of Santa Ana Post No. 131 American Legion.  Kindly omit flowers.

 

JEFFREY—At his residence on the Irvine Ranch, Jan. 6, 1921, William Jeffrey Sr., aged 37 years.  Mr. Jeffrey was well known as one of the leading farmers of the Irvine Ranch.  Beside a widow he leaves four sons, Alexander, George, William and Robert and two daughters, Mrs. Beryle Wilson of Chatsworth Park and Mrs. William Jahns of Pasadena.  Services will be held from the Mills and Winbigler Mission Funeral home, Monday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m.  Interment in Evergreen cemetery, Los Angeles.

 

RIBRA—In Santa Ana, Jan. 6, 1921, Fransito Ribra, aged 16 years.  Services in charge of Mills and Winbigler will be held from the residence, corner Fairlawn and Hickey streets, tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.

DE GAUL—Mr. J.R. De Gaul, aged 37, at the Anaheim sanatorium, January 6, 1921.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, at 2 p.m. from Smith and  Tuthill’s chapel.  Mr. De Gaul lived at Garden Grove.

 

CHAPMAN—Mrs. Harriett A. Chapman, at Garden Grove, January 6, 1921.  The body is being prepared by Smith and Tuthill for shipment to Fonda, Iowa.

 

FRENCH—Mr. John Bradley French, aged 24, at Fresno, January 6, 1921.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, at 3:30 p.m., from Smith and Tuthill’s chapel.  John French is the son of Under Sheriff E.E. French, 627 North Ross street.  Funeral services will be held under the auspices of the Huntington Beach post of the American Legion.

BENNETT—On January 7, 1921, at his home on Tustin avenue, C.F. Bennett, aged 78.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, from Smith and Tuthill’s chapel.  Services at the grave will be under the auspices of the Sedgwick Post, G.A.R.  Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen M. Bennett, and three sons, Charles A., Frederick W., and Harvey F. Bennett.

 

FIELDS—At Newport Beach, January 7, 1920, Isaac Fields, Sr., aged 72 years.  Mr. Fields had been ill for some time and leaves a large family all well known here.  He is survived by a widow and eight children, Ike Fields of Santa Ana, Mrs. Melvina Miller of Los Angeles; Dolor Fields of Watts; Mrs. Eva Ellis of Los Angeles; Mrs. Laura Munds of Watts; Mrs. Phoebe Chaffen of Utah; Mrs. Lina Launderes of Watts and Willard Fields of Utah.  Services will be held from the Mills and Winbigler Mission Funeral home, Monday, Jan. 10, at 3:30 p.m.  Interment in Fairhaven cemetery.

 

MACIAS—In Santa Ana, Jan. 7, 1921, Viviana Macias, infant of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Macias of 916 Logan street.  Services in charge of Mills and Winbigler were held from the residence this afternoon.

MITCHELL—Mrs. Grace Mitchell,  aged 75 years, January 8, at her home, 1016 Van Ness avenue.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Smith-Tuthill chapel.  The deceased is survived by her children, Mrs. Sarah Newson of Rivera, Mrs. Belle Smith of Los Angeles, R.P. Mitchell of Santa Ana, J.C. Mitchell of Garden Grove and William Mitchell of Tulare.

 

WAGONER—Mrs. Sarah Wagoner, aged 57, in the El Centro hospital, January 8, 1921.  Mrs. Wagoner was the wife of J.W. Wagoner, and mother of Mrs. Roy Shrode, of Los Angeles; Mrs. W.R. McClintock, Santa Ana; Mrs. Elmer McGiffin, of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Dara Shrode, of Los Angeles.  She lived for twelve years in Santa Ana, leaving her five years ago to reside in Los Angeles, of which city she was a resident at the time of her death.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., tomorrow from Smith and Tuthill’s chapel.  Interment will be made in Fairhaven cemetery.

GULLEY—Mrs. Margaret A. Gulley, aged 69 years, January 10, at her home, 312 East Sixth street, after an illness of six weeks.  Funeral services, Wednesday, January 12, at 2 p.m. from Smith and Tuthill’s.  The deceased is survived by her husband, W.F. Gulley and has lived here for more than thirty-four years.  The Rev. Otto S. Russell, of the First Congregational church, this Star will conduct the services.

 

BROWN—Col. George Le Roy Brown, aged 71 years, today, at his home in Balboa.  Funeral services will be announced later.  He was a retired army officer and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary W.H. Brown.

CLARK—Arthur George Clark, aged 57, at his home at Irvine, January 12, 1921.   Funeral services will be held January 15 at 11 a.m. at Fallbrook, San Diego County.  The deceased leaves a wife and family.  Smith and Tuthill will have charge of the services.

HUGHES—Mrs. Augusta W. Hughes,  aged 50 years, wife of F.B. Hughes, January 16, at her residence, 1248 West Fourth street.  The family came from Oklahoma about one year ago.  Mrs. Hughes leaves two daughters, Irene and Mildred, and two sons, Cyril and Harry.  Services were held this afternoon at 3:30 at the Mills and Winbigler Mission Funeral home.  Interment at ???cell, Oklahoma.

 

BROWN—At Newport Beach, Calif., George LeRoy Brown, aged 72.  Funeral at 10 a.m., January 18, 1921, from Smith & Tuthill’s chapel.  Interment at Fairhaven cemetery.

 

MORELOCK—Iris Morelock, aged 5 years, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Morelock, 709 Cypress street, January 16, 1921.  Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 p.m. from the Smith and Tuthill chapel.

 

HARTZLER—Jacob D. Hartzler, aged 71 years, at his home in Villa Park, January 16, 1921.  The body is at Smith and Tuthill chapel, and funeral arrangements will be announced later.  Deceased was the father of Mrs. Charles Waffle.

 

BOYD—Leonard Boyd, aged 23, at Balboa Heights, Panama, January 16, where he was stationed with the United States government engineers.  He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Boyd, 301 Fruit street, who, together with a brother, Stanley  Boyd, of Oceanside, and four sisters, Miss Kate Boyd of Santa Ana, Mrs. L.A. Wade of Hollywood and Mrs. W. Barker and Mrs. Verna Freeman of Oceanside, survive.  The body is being shipped here for interment and funeral services will be announced later.

Forbes, aged 90 years, January 17, at her residence, 831 East Third street.  Services will be held Wednesday, January 19, at 10:30 a.m.  Mrs. Forbes leaves three daughters, Mrs. C.F. Scott, Mrs. Lucy F. McGee and Miss Nellie R. Forbes, all of this city; and two sons, John S. Forbes of Bazine, Kansas, and Andrew A. Forbes of Lompoc, Calif.

ELLIOTT—Near Huntington Beach, January 18, 1921, S.W. Elliott, aged 69.  Funeral services at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 21, from Bundschub’s chapel, Huntington Beach.  Mr. Elliott leaves a widow and two sons, P.W. Elliott of Huntington Beach and B.P. Elliott of Sebastapol.  The family moved to the ranch near Huntington Beach twenty-seven years ago, from Oklahoma.

MANLEY—Mrs. Emma Manley, aged 87, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.A. Myers, 410 Vernon avenue, Los Angeles, January 20, 1921.  Funeral services will be held January 22, at 10 a.m. at the Smith and Tuthill chapel.  Interment will be in the Westminster cemetery.

 

SHORE—Alice J. Shore, aged 2, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Shore, El Modena, on January 21, 1921.  Funeral services will be held at the Smith and Tuthill chapel on January 22 at 2 p.m.  Interment in Fairhaven cemetery.
